Job Summary

As a part of the Sendik’s team, the Deli Associate is responsible for delivering “best in class” customer service to all guests at the Deli counter and on the sales floor. The main responsibility of the Deli Associate is to weigh, package, and price items from the deli cold case and slice meats and cheeses using the deli slicer. The Deli Associate will also assist in miscellaneous duties, such as, but not limited to, filling the deli case and salad bar when it gets low, maintaining the back coolers and cleaning.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serve customers in the Deli Department while modeling Sendik’s culture and providing “best in class” customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business

  • Slicing meats and cheeses using the deli slicer

  • Weighing, packaging and pricing items from the deli case

  • Assist customers with answering questions and making recommendations

  • Assist with maintaining the back cooler including; rotating stock, dating and cleaning

  • Assist Deli Department with stocking, rotating and facing the Deli wall

  • Assist Deli Lead and Cook with minimal food preparation

  • Maintain sanitation and temperature logs as needed

  • Operate, maintain and clean deli equipment including knives, ovens, fryers, dishwashers, coolers and slicers

  • Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Deli Department

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures

  • Assist with all other Deli Department duties as needed
     

Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Deli equipment

  • Eagerness to interact with customers

  • Strong sense of team – ability to anticipate the needs of the team

  • Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner

  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under general supervision

  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills

  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
