Position Summary: Oversee camp counselorscamp units and safety. Train, supervise and oversee camp counselor staff and assist with adult volunteer placement.

Camp dates: May 16 - August 18, 2020

Please note camp will not be in session: May 25 and July 2-5, 2020 and Sundays

A weekly salary of: $350

Major Accountabilities:

  1. Plan, direct and supervise the camp counselors, camp units and staff.

  1. Provide appropriate resources for camp counselors.

  1. Supervise,support and advise counselors and campers.

  1. Provide administrative oversight and support to overall camp functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service staff trainings and assist with adult volunteer trainings.

  1. Teach staff their responsibilities in activities and how to work with adult volunteers during staff training.

  1. Ensure staff morale among camp counselors and that individual needs are met.

  1. Oversee the set-up and supervision of camp units.

  1. Develop routines, schedules and procedures for unit activities.

  1. Assign staff activities and other responsibilities.

  1. Oversee set-up of camper units and assist with initial and end-of-season inventories and storage of equipment for safety.

  1. Submit or place orders for equipment and /or supplies when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of materials.

  1. Ensure evaluations are conducted for all unit activities and staff bi-weekly.

  1. Help assign adult volunteers to units, make pre-camp contact, supervise and follow up with recognition.

  1. Be responsible for the welfare and monitor the adjustment of campers to camp, coaching counselors to handle any problems that arise.

  1. Help ensure morale of staff by monitoring that staff gets enough rest, time and days off and recreational opportunities are available to them.

  1. Interpret, enforce and implement state, American Camp Association and Girl Scouts safety guidelines and standards.

  1. Prepare, review and submit records and requested reports on time.

  1. Prepare an evaluation and summary of current season including inventories, staff evaluations, camper reports and recommendations for the following season.

  1. Implement health, safety and program standards.

  1. Interpret, and implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

  1. Comprehend and implement safety guidelines andemergency procedures.

  1. Work with troop director to ensure adequate coverage for troop programs.

  1. Assist with opening, closing and daily cleaning of camp.

  2. Coordinate busing including bus monitors and rosters.

  3. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or CampDirector.
