Job Title Supervisor Surgical Services Building Code AK-Aurora Medical Center, Kenosha Address 10400 75th St City Kenosha # Hours Per Pay Period (Bi-weekly) 80 Schedule Monday - Friday Req # (optional) 62974BR Explore a Career In Surgery Job Description Imagine yourself... *Performing human resource responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, salary adjustments, resolution of employee concerns, disciplinary counseling, terminations, and employee morale. *Providing safe staffing needs using workload measurement data to clinical judgment. *Being responsible for service assignments for staff based on knowledge, skill and ability in conjunction with Specialty Coordinators. *Promoting communication among patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff to optimize the interdependence of all team members. Coordinating the needs of physicians and acts as liaison between the medical staff and the nursing staff by serving as a problem solver and mediator. *Developing and maintaining effective intra- and inter-departmental relationships. Facilitates positive communication with medical supply companies and their representatives. *Supporting Shared Governance and its functions related to Nursing Evaluation, Peer Review, Policy/Procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice. *Serving as a clinical resource contact for patients, families, nursing staff, other health care members and external agencies. *Evaluating the quality of patient care provided in the specialty area(s) of responsibility through collaboration with unit and organization resource people. Assuring policies and procedures are in compliance with those of the Medical Center, the Nursing Department, and regulatory agencies. *Expediting surgery schedule as it relates to both elective and non-elective procedures. *Monitoring and assessing OR resources (personnel, equipment, and rooms) in order to efficiently orchestrate the correct set-up for surgical procedures. Communicating with patient care units regarding changes/openings in schedule. Coordinating OR resources to accommodate unscheduled and emergency surgical procedures. *Assisting the manger in the development of the annual site capital and operational budgets and works within established budgets through the interpretation of data, including fiscal reports and productivity measurements. *Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards. *Understanding and adhering to the Aurora Health Care Code of Excellence and for ensuring personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws that affect Aurora's business. Skills / Requirements
General Qualifications
*Current Registered Nurse (RN) license granted by the State of Wisconsin. *Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job are typically acquired through five years of progressively responsible nursing experience in an operating room setting. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) granted by an approved American Heart Association program. *Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills. *Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously. Desired Qualifications At least four years of experience in the Surgical RN Circulator Role. Previous experience in a supervisory position within the OR required. Previous experience within a Day Surgery/PACU setting preferred. Is familiar with sterile processing and materials management procedures.
