Job Description

Imagine yourself working with this team… We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to work in our highly collaborative and leading edge environment.

Due to our commitment to shared governance and shared decision-making, the Registered Nurse Academic Clinic is accountable for the provision of nursing care and the coordination of care for the patient through the use of the nursing process in an academic clinic setting. They function as a key team member in the educational process for medical students, residents and other learners by collaborating with AUWMG faculty and preceptors. Imagine yourself… Providing leadership and guidance to healthcare learners in the academic clinic setting including the following:
*Documentation and charting including use of the computer for clinical information.
*Appropriate billing for services, including documentation requirements.
*Teaching and role modeling learners to be part of the clinical team.
*Providing guidance to learners in human and patient interaction skills.
*Teaching learners how to access and utilize community resources across the continuum of care.

Using the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation) to provide ongoing care to the clinic patient population.
Providing consultation and triage over the telephone and in person to patients, family and others according to AUWMG policies and procedures.
Accurately assessing and providing patient/family education utilizing all available teaching resources, including innovative interventions/technology.
Initiating, coordinating, implementing and evaluating care management initiatives with appropriate patients.
Providing orientation, education and periodic competency assessment for clinic staff.
*Demonstrating a holistic approach to nursing practice committed to meeting the physical, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs of the patient and family.



Skills / Requirements
General Qualifications

*Current Registered Nurse (RN) license granted by the State of Wisconsin.
*Knowledge of Nursing, equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regionally accredited bachelor's degree program.
*Knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform this job are typically acquired through a minimum of three years of progressively responsible registered nursing experience in a clinic setting. Experience in clinic specialty strongly preferred.
*Must meet the 'Performance Standards for Patient Care and Professional Accountability' as defined by the "Annual Performance Review Tool for Professional Nurses."
*Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in their clinic specialty.
*Ability to evaluate own decision-making and judgment. Engages in professional development activities to increase the quality of these decisions. Recognizes knowledge of self to maintain objective and separate personal feelings within ethical/moral situations.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
*Basic computer skills required.


Desired Qualifications

*Desire at least 2 years experience in critical care or emergency room nursing.
*Bilingual in Spanish.
