Monday 3 PM to 7 PM, Tuesday through Friday (not working Saturday): 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM , Tuesday though Friday(when working following Saturday): 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Weekend Hours:

Average 1 Saturday per month: Saturday hours 8 AM to 12 Noon
(May work 2 Saturdays in 1 month then none the following month).

Job Description

Imagine Yourself...

Performing clinical laboratory testing of biological specimens in any/all specialty areas using manual or automated techniques.

Using independent judgment and cognitive skills to develop data, which may be used by the physician in determining the presence and extent of disease.

Performing, evaluating, and monitoring laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated.

Evaluating results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness.

Performing and documenting calibration and maintenance of instruments and equipment.

Performing and documenting quality control. Evaluating quality control results and takes corrective action when indicated.

Recognizing indicators of test and/or instrument malfunction and making basic corrections by using prescribed strategies or notifying the medical technologist, site coordinator or supervisor.

Providing technical assistance to phlebotomists and support personnel.

Attending all mandatory in-services and participates annually in at least three educational contact hours.

Assisting in improving the quality and efficiency of laboratory procedures, policies, and processes.

Ensuring compliance with all accrediting agency standards.

Maintaining patient confidentiality in and out of the workplace.

Adhering to the Aurora Service Commitment in interactions with all internal and external customers.

Maintaining constructive and effective communication to enhance department performance.

Contributing effectively to the achievement of team goals and objectives.

Supporting change efforts within the organization and contribute to their successful implementation.

Maintaining current knowledge of and complies with the contents of all pertinent policy and procedure manuals.

Utilizing all required computer information systems appropriately.

Documenting all appropriate information for quality assurance/improvement according to established protocol.

Monitoring workflow and making necessary adjustment to complete work in an appropriate time frame.

Demonstrating a willingness to work a flexible schedule, which may include alternate site assignment.

Demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care relative to the patient's age-specific needs.


Skills / Requirements
General Qualifications

•Associate degree in medical laboratory technology.

•Must hold or be qualified to hold a current certification as a Medical Lab Technician as certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the National Credentialing Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel, or other appropriate certifying agency. If not currently certified, must achieve certification within one year of employment.
