Performing patient interview to determine appropriate patient preparation. Obtaining and recording vital signs and preventative health information according to patient's symptoms and age. *Performing a variety of basic lab and clinical procedures using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines. *Communicating effectively with patient, family or significant others and provides them with necessary emotional support. Following through with necessary lab and radiology requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referral to other clinics and services. *Communicating effectively with physicians and other members of the health care team and support staff. Documenting and communicating accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions. Participating *Instructing patient regarding routine procedures. Referring questions to nurses, midlevel clinicians, or physicians as appropriate. Assisting with exams and procedures. *Completing routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment using appropriate technique when cleaning, sterilizing and caring for instruments and other equipment. *Assisting with clerical, reception or medical records duties. *Being able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards. Skills / Requirements
General Qualifications
~Graduate of an accredited MA program and experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting. *High school diploma or equivalent. *High school diploma or equivalent. *Demonstrated competency in performing: injections, immunizations, EKG, blood pressure checks, and phlebotomy. *Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within six months of hire. *Excellent customer service skills essential. Ability to effectively communicate (both orally and in writing) with physicians, staff, and patients. *Proficiency using Microsoft office products, electronic mail and electronic medical record systems. Desired Qualifications ~Prefer minimum one year experience as an Medical Assistant.
