Post Date: October 23, 2009 Spirituality Integration Coordinator (Hrly) All names will be removed from eligible lists one (1) year after eligibility is established. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an approved college or university with a major in Psychology required. Possession of a valid Wisconsin Class “D” driver’s license at the time of application and maintained during incumbency. Possession of a Master’s Degree from an approved college or university in Divinity or Theology preferred. Experience: Four (4) years of experience providing religious and secular services to adult individuals in the capacity of a minister, teacher, or case manager in a hospital setting required. Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of behavior theory and practices; knowledge of community resources for mental health patients; organizational skills; supervisory skills; oral and written communication skills; ability to relate with a variety of religious and secular community organizations; ability to navigate a multifloor psychiatric hospital in a safe manner; ability to work effectively and harmoniously with volunteers, clients, families, and individuals of varied professional backgrounds and diversity. Duties: Under general direction, to be responsible for the organization, management and administration of spiritual integration for the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division (BHD); to provide leadership that develops and maintains the integration of appropriate spirituality resources and secular alternatives within the division’s treatment and recovery programming; to organize and lead activities using spiritual resources and their secular alternatives for persons with serious and persistent mental illness; to recruit, direct, train, and evaluate volunteers who work with persons with serious and persistent mental illness; to train and supervise Spiritual Beliefs and Issues Groups (SBIG) facilitators using the Dr. Nancy Kehoe model; to assist the division, programs within the division, and treatment teams in the various program areas in understanding the importance of addressing client’s spiritual issues and apply spiritual modeling techniques; to develop training materials to teach the Dr. Nancy Kehoe model to peer support specialists, mental health clinicians and volunteers; to assist in finding and developing equivalent secular alternatives to spiritual and religious activities; to provide advanced training and consultation to current facilitators of SBIG; to provide chaplaincy services; to monitor the cleanliness of the Chapel and to provide supplies; to coordinate chapel services, Bible studies and other services provided by outside volunteers; to provide religious rituals, and develop resources from the larger community for specialized spiritual needs of consumers; to promote collaborative and harmonious relations between various mental health disciplines, BHD programs and services, community organization, consumer advocacy groups, service organizations, and social service agencies; to develop resources in the large community for secular alternatives to the spiritual and religious activities offer; to be a member of and participate in BHD Ethics Committee, Acute Inpatient Program Planning Committee, Volunteer Work Group, Recovery Committee, and Spirituality Committee; to support and uphold the needs of mental health consumers regardless of religious belief systems; and all other duties as may be assigned.
