Job: Rehabilitation Coordinator

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, Social Services, Psychology, Vocational Counseling, Community Mental Health or Nursing. Five (5) years of work experience in treatment services to persons with serious and persistent mental illness including experience providing community based mental health services such as: rehabilitative services, inpatient, outpatient and/or day treatment. Four (4) years of supervisory and management experience required. Licensed by the State of Wisconsin as an Occupational Therapist or Board Certified as a Music Therapist at time of application and maintained during incumbency. Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License is preferred. Master’s degree in one of the fields listed above will substitute for two years of work experience in treatment services to persons with serious and persistent mental illness including experience providing community based mental health services such as: rehabilitative services, inpatient, outpatient and/or day treatment.

Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Federal, State and County standards, policies and procedures in rehabilitative, inpatient or day treatment services; Knowledge of HSS61.75/HFS 33; knowledge of title 18 and title 19 billing; knowledge of basic accounting principles; knowledge of community resources such as the Master Plan for the Public Sector Mental Health System for Adults in Milwaukee; knowledge of Community Mental Health and Day treatment practices and methods; knowledge of Occupational and Music Therapists practices, principles and methods; skill in community mental health and day treatment methods; supervisory skills; oral and written communication skills; ability to work in a harmonious and professional manner with clients, families, individuals of varied professional backgrounds and individuals in the private and public sector.

Duties: Under general direction, to be responsible for the organization, management and administration of rehabilitative services for the Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division’s Acute Inpatient and Day Treatment and Intensive Medical Day Treatment Programs; to develop and maintain the highest clinical standards and “Best Practice” care within Rehabilitative Services Programming and Intensive Medical Day Treatment Program; to achieve and maintain the Federal, State and County regulatory mandates; to schedule, assign, supervise, train, evaluate, and monitor the productivity of professional and clerical staff; to assist in training, directing, guiding and evaluating treatment providers in the varied therapeutic interventions and community living skills designed towards meeting the needs of persons with severe and persistent mental illness; to screen and assign new referrals; to coordinate, assist in, or directly handle difficult cases requiring individual, group, family spousal, co-therapy and/or crisis intervention methods; to adjust program capacity and/or develop services to meet Acute Inpatient/Day Treatment Program/Client needs; to confer with the department administrator, directors, staff and/or lead members from public and private organizations with respect to client needs and staff development; to maintain records, conduct chart audits to meet requirements of State certification; to order equipment; assist with budget preparation, audit billing practices, quarterly performance improvement and annual performance review reports; to prepare bi-annual state certification audit/review; to serve on hospital committees, organizations, and participate in State meetings and/or activities and in-service training; to provide staff or clinic consultation, in-service education and orientation programs; to monitor internship programs in collaboration with hospital and college programming; to promote collaborative and harmonious relationships between the Behavioral Health Division, community organizations and agencies.

THE ORIGINAL EXAMINATION is open to qualified residents of the State of Wisconsin. Appointee must establish residency in Milwaukee County within six months of appointment and maintain residency during incumbency.
