Jobing Description
The Philanthropy Associate/Development Officer participates as a member of the Philanthropy team charged with raising funds for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare system and the sites/service lines/programs that make up system. Instrumental in implementing annual philanthropy plans for assigned site/service line/program fundraising activities, with primary emphasis on major gift activity - identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts.
Skills / Requirements
Bachelors Degree in: Required in marketing, communications or related field with one to three years experience required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities required:(i.e. supervision, computers, etc.):1. Prior exposure to Fund Development activities (i.e. special events, grant writing, annual giving, corporate giving)2. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and writing skills3. Must be an independent self-starter, level of professional maturity, judgment and confidence4. Proficient in use of personal computersPrincipal Accountabilities and Essential Duties of the Job:1. Assist Executive Director(s) in implementation of strategic and annual Philanthropy plans with primary emphasis on major gift activities (individual prospect identification, cultivation, and solicitation) and building long-term sustainable funding from individuals.2. In collaboration with the Executive Director(s), establish personal goals as they relate to major gift fundraising activities, annual giving program responsibilities, special events, donor recognition, etc.3. Assist Executive Director(s) in the identification of funding priorities and the development of case statements and materials to support those priorities for assigned sites/service lines/programs.4. Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of annual fundraising plan and budget to meet established goals. 5. As assigned, work with centralized philanthropy staff on continuity of contact with site grateful patient program donors, implementation of employee campaign, identification of foundation prospects and submission of grant proposals, appropriate service line opportunities and prospects, gift acknowledgment, utilization of donor database and donor recognition displays.6. Serve as or assist fundraising team leader for assigned sites/service lines/programs, coordinating major gift related team activities including recruitment and engagement of staff and physician champions, education, training, team and individual goal setting, prospect cultivation, solicitation and recognition.7. Develop and manage a minimum portfolio of 175 major gift prospects• Participate in prospect identification and review program• Implement and manage an ongoing program of prospect and donor cultivation• Solicit or personally coordinate the solicitation of appropriate major gift prospects• Participate as assigned in donor and volunteer acknowledgement and recognition8. Contribute as assigned to the site/service line/program communication plan to ensure philanthropy presence.9. As appropriate, represent and promote assigned sites/service lines/programs and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare in community.
